→Importing data
Importing allows you to transfer data from other genealogy programs into a Gramps Family Tree. Gramps includes a core set of importer plugins that are selected automatically based on the corresponding file extension. You can also install additional "Importer" [[Third-party_Addons|plugin type of third-party addons]] can be installed and the automation will recognize the new file extensions.
In the {{man label|[[Gramps_6.0_Wiki_Manual_-_Manage_Family_Trees#Import_Family_Tree_dialog|Import Family Tree]]}} dialog use the {{man label|Select file type:}} drop-down menu to select from the following supported import file type formats:
* '''Automatically detected''' ''(default)'' - This automation option can be overridden. Which is useful when formats are updated and make the core plugins obsolete.
* [[#Gramps_CSV_import|Comma Separated Values Spreadsheet (CSV)]] (<code>.csv</code> file extension)
