FamilyTreeView is an interactive 
Charts category view addon that presents a navigable ancestors and descendant tree using the current active person as a starting point. Clicking another person in the family tree will make that person the active person and will redraw the family tree based on them.
Usage
FamilyTreeView is a third-party addon for Gramps. It provides a navigable tree representation of ancestors, descendants and other related persons.
Note that this addon is currently under development and should not be considered stable. It has not been thoroughly tested and interfaces are likely to change. Back up your data before using this addon.
Features:
- Tree visualization of relatives of the active person
- Info box pop-up with basic information on a person or family (not visible in screenshot below)
- Side panel with detailed information on a person or families including a timeline
- Expanders to show more (or less) ancestors or descendants of corresponding persons or families (not visible in screenshot below)
- Name abbreviation algorithm to fit long names into the fix-sized boxes (AbbreviatedNameDisplay)
- Badges for customizable display of interesting / important information (new / custom badges can be registered)
- Intuitive zoom centered at mouse pointer position
- Mini map for orientation
Installation
FamilyTreeView is installed via the Addon Manager. However, since FamilyTreeView has not yet been released as an official add-on, installation requires to create a new project in the Addon Manager.
- Open the Addon Manager and select the Projects tab.
- Click the [+] to add a new project
- In the New Project window name the project "FamilyTreeView" and in the URL field enter "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ztlxltl/FamilyTreeView/dist/gramps60"
- Click [OK] to save the new project
- In the project list be sure to check the FamilyTreeView checkbox
- Select the Addons tab
- In the Filters line change the second drop-down box to "FamilyTreeView" and change the last drop-down box to "All statuses"
- Click [install] on the FamilyTreeView line. Note that all listed modules will automatically be installed.
- Close the Addon Manager
You might also want to install the Graph View addon. When Graph View is installed FamilyTreeView will automatically use Graph View's search bar.
Configuration
FamilyTreeView has a large number of configuration options. To change the configuration of FamilyTreeView click the Configure in the Toolbar while FamilyTreeView is active.
