The language is set in the {{man menu|Edit -> Preferences...}} tabs {{man label- "Data" tab in the [[Gramps_6.0_Wiki_Manual_-_Settings#Display_Options|Display}} Options]] section and is described in the [[Gramps_{{Version manual}}_Wiki_Manual_-_Settings#Place_Format_Editor|Place Format Editor]]. This is used as the preferred language for place names and types which are imported. The default language is German.
