Gramps exports objects in the Tree. So if you added Tags or custom types but have not applied them to at least one record, the Tag or Type will have no place to be included in the backup.

The {{man label|[[Gramps_5.1_Wiki_Manual_-_Manage_Family_Trees#Gramps_XML_Package_.28family_tree_and_media.29_export|Gramps Package]]}} backup only contains your family tree and (when the 'include media' backup option is selected) your media.
The following settings in Gramps are not transferred:
* Any custom [[Gramps_{{man version}}_Wiki_Manual_-_Filters|filters (<code>custom_filters.xml</code>)]] you have created.

* Gramps exports objects in the Tree. So any added Tags or custom types that have not been applied them to at least one record, the Tag or Type will have no place to be included in the backup.
You can keep your custom settings by manually copying each of the <code>*.xml</code> files from the [[Gramps User Directory]] to the corresponding directory in the new ''gramps_version_number'' directory. Be aware that (due to changes in different versions of Gramps) the settings may no longer work. So be diligent that you test.
