Addon:TimelinePedigreeView

This is a Third-party Addon. The Addon/Plugin system is controlled by the Plugin Manager. Please use carefully on data that is backed up, and help make it better by reporting any issues to the bug tracker. Unless otherwise stated on this page, you can download this addon by following these instructions. Please note that some Addons have prerequisites that need to be installed before they can be used.

Marriage missing date. When a marriage does not have a date, then the actual marriage will not show as connecting lines on the view. Just add a date to make the marriage union visible.

The Timeline Pedigree View shows a pedigree of descendants as well as ancestors and also the timeline for each person's life.

Usage

• Select the Charts Category
• Select the Timeline Pedigree icon from the toolbar

• The following keyboard command works on the view
  • F2 : Display home person if set.

• Editing and navigation is available using the context menu's.
• Configuration is only available using the context menu's.

Understanding the view:

• The top of the view shows a numbered time line with each mark representing ten years; and every 50 years labeled.
  • Years are shown right (oldest year) to left (newest year).
• A persons box is aligned to the time line based on the year of birth
  • If that person also has a death date recorded a colored area representing the persons lifespan will be shown across the period they lived.

Context Menus

Three different context menus (via right-click) are available. The context is based on whether you select a blank area or a Person box is exist or not.

Using the context menu on a blank section of the canvas will allow you to adjust and change various options (See Fig. TimelinePedigreeView.2)

• Home - re-center on the home person
• Show images
• Show marriage data
• Order by timeline
• Show lifespan
• Mouse Scroll direction
  • Top<->Bottom - use with Shift modifier key
  • Left<->Right - default - no modifier key
• Descendant Generations
  • select from 1 to 9 generations (default 3 )
• Ancestor Generations
  • select from 1 to 9 generations (default 4 )

Using the context menu on an existing Person box will show additional options (See Fig. TimelinePedigreeView.3)

• Add new person then re-center and make this the Active person.
