Les sources sont importantes, multiples et peuvent être partagées. En général liées à un événement. Par ailleurs, on peut les regrouper au sein d'un dépôt (archive, bibliothèque, classeur, etc ...). Elle peut également avoir plusieurs citations.

Gramps offre une grande liberté dans la saisie, ceci n'offre pas que des avantages. En effet, comment saisir les sources et exploiter au maximun les possibilités offertes par Gramps ?

Introduction

Les espaces de saisie sont hérités du format GEDCOM. Ce dernier définit la source et ses relations :

EVEN 	{EVENT} A noteworthy happening related to an individual, a group, or an organization.
**DATE {DATE} 	The time in a calendar format.
**PAGE {PAGE} 	A number or description to identify where information can be found in a referenced work.
**QUAY {QUALITY_OF_DATA} An assessment of the certainty of the evidence to support the conclusion drawn
                from evidence.
**NOTE {NOTE} 	Additional information provided by the submitter for understanding the enclosing data.
SOUR 	{SOURCE} The initial or original material from which information was obtained.
*TITL 	{TITLE} A description of a specific writing or other work, such as the title of a book when used in 
               a sourcecontext, or a formal designation used by an individual in connection with positions of 
               royalty orother social status, such as Grand Duke.
*AUTH 	{AUTHOR} The name of the individual who created or compiled information.
*ABBR 	{ABBREVIATION} 	A short name of a title, description, or name.
*PUBL 	{PUBLICATION} 	Refers to when and/or where a work was published or created.
*TEXT 	{TEXT} 	The exact wording found in an original source document.
*DATA 	{DATA} 	Pertaining to stored automated information.
REPO 	{REPOSITORY} 	An institution or person that has the specified item as part of their collection(s).
**MEDI {MEDIA} Identifies information about the media or having to do with the medium in which 
                       information isstored.
**CALN {CALL_NUMBER} 	The number used by a repository to identify the specific items in its collections.
**NOTE {NOTE} 	Additional information provided by the submitter for understanding the enclosing data.

Saisie par l'exemple

Un exemple

Un acte de décès daté du 13 Mai 1809, présent aux Archives Départmentales de la Creuse, avec la référence 6Mi5202, concerant Madame X décédée la veille à Guéret.

Une possibilité

  1. on saisit l'événement : Décès - 12.5.1809 - Guéret, 36, Creuse
  2. on ajoute une source : Acte de décès de X (12.5.1809)
  3. que l'on lie à un dépôt : Archives Départementales de la Creuse - N° d'identifiant: 6Mi5202
  4. on valide les saisies
  5. on peut (en option) ajouter la date (13.5.1809), le volume, la page et la fiabilité de la source. Ces informations seront uniquement visibles entre l'événement (décès de Madame X) et cette source: c'est la citation. Ces informations sont utilisées dans les rapports détaillés comme références bibliographiques.
