This page lists templates that wiki contributors can use to make the wiki more consistent. The MediaWiki engine substitutes pre-defined content for each template as the page chunks are served to the browser.

The example of using WikiMedia date templates and custom Gramps Wiki version templates with internal and external hotlinks is:
As of Thursday, 28 March 2024, the most current Gramps release is the 5.2.1 version. The wiki manual is at the 5.2 version.
Initial release is for Linux OS and new installers for target platforms are updated by volunteers. So, updated release lags will correspond to interest levels. The released versions on the various platforms are: Version 5.2.1 for Linux, 3.2.5 on the Version Linux Live CD, 5.2.0 on the Mac, 5.1.6 for the Portable App for Mac, 5.1.5 for generic 32-bit Windows, 5.2.1 for more powerful 64-bit Windows, and 5.2.0 for the Portable App for Windows. For a history of Gramps release versions, see Previous releases of Gramps.

The example above was generated using the the following text:

As of {{CURRENTDAYNAME}}, {{CURRENTDAY}} {{CURRENTMONTHNAMEGEN}} {{CURRENTYEAR}}, the [[Download|most current Gramps release]] is the {{TEMPLATE:version}} version. The wiki manual is at the {{man version}} version.<br /> Initial release is for Linux OS and new installers for target platforms are updated by volunteers. So, updated release lags will correspond to interest levels. The released versions on the various platforms are: Version {{template:version}} for Linux, {{template:Version Linux Live CD}} on the Version Linux Live CD, {{template:Version Mac}} on the Mac, {{template:Version MacPort}} for the [https://portableapps.com/about/what_is_a_portable_app Portable App] for Mac, {{template:Version windows AIO32}} for [https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/15056/windows-32-64-bit-faq generic 32-bit Windows], {{template:Version windows AIO64}} for more powerful [https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/13443/windows-which-version-am-i-running 64-bit Windows], and {{template:Version windows portable}} for the [https://portableapps.com/about/what_is_a_portable_app Portable App] for Windows. For a history of Gramps release versions, see [[Previous_releases_of_Gramps|Previous releases of Gramps]].

The inclusion of the "TEMPLATE:" keyword is optional unless a template name conflicts with a MediaWiki variable name. But including the keyword is a good reminder and hint for future editors. To explore a general overview of using Templates in the Gramps-Project.org wiki, see Help:Templates on MediWiki.
