=== How to add new Family with a known spouse ===
In the example.gramps tree, we want to add a cousin as a spouse to Barry Joseph Garner. To match these illustrations, we will use his 3rd cousin once removed, April Lynn Vázquez.
# Switch to the {{icon|peop}}People View via the navigator bar
# find the known person (in this example, April Lynn Vázquez)
# select the row
# copy (which brings up the Gramps Clipboard copies the selected object to it)
# find the other spouse (in this example, Barry Joseph Garner
# select the row
# Switch to the {{icon|rela}}Relationships View via the navigator bar
# click Add a new family toolbar button
# drag April from the Clipboard to the Mother/partner2 spot
# click the {{man button|OK}} button to finalize the new family in the tree

The Consanguinity gramplet Gramplet is an add-on for updated whenever the People views of GrampsActive Person focus shifts. (When installed, this gramplet will be an option for the following views: {{icon|peop}}People, {{icon|rela}}Relationships, {{icon|ance}}Charts, and {{icon|geog}}Geography.
However, any open Pedigree and pedigree collapse diagram windows remain unchanged. === Explore the common ancestry ===
Since ''<code>Piatt D. Warner</code>'' is the Active Person, the contents of the {{man label|Consanguinity gramplet Gramplet}} will be in the '''Single Pane''' mode (Figure 1 2 shows the '''Notebook ''' mode where spouses are on separate pages) and look something like the following section. (Although the gramplet will have hotlinked People and Relationship.) The text below was created by clicking the {{man button|Copy}} button and pasting it into this article.
<pre>
Warner, Piatt D. (*9 Apr 1821, +11 Oct 1889)
The hotlinks on the names of People will navigate the focus of Active Person selection to that person.

Clicking the described {{man label|Relationship}} will open a block diagram of that instance of pedigree collapse and how it relates to the Active Person.
In the example ''shown in Figure 12'', Piatt Warner's great grandparents (Edward Warner and Mary Molly Anderson have the {{man label|Relationship:}} '''''second cousins once removed (down)''''' who are descended from the common ancestors, Edward Christiansen and Elizabeth Thomas. Clicking that relationship description opens a basic chart ''(shown in Figure 23)'' of that relationship their common ancestors and Piatt's relationship to through them. {{-}}

Clicking the {{DEFAULTSORT:How do I...new category locationman button|noreplaceCopy}}[[Category:Plugins]][[Category:Gramplets]]button copies the text to the OS clipboard.
An example of Piatt's pedigree is shown in Figure 4. You will notice that the lines for ancestors 152 and 153 are marked as being the same as ancestors 68 and 69 (Edward Christiansen and Elizabeth Thomas). This is where there is pedigree collapse for Piatt. The rest of the list will crop out the ancestors of 152 and 153 because they too are duplicated.
== Trickery to Diagram Cousin connections ==
The Consanguinity Gramplet is designed to help determine the various degrees of consanguineous relationships between the Active Person and their spouse(s). It does so in a more comprehensive way than can be found in any other combination of tools in Gramps.
When you have explored sufficient, Edit the temporary Family again to remove both people. When the Family Editor window is closed with the OK, the now----empty temporary family will be deleted.
