{{man buttonlabel|Report for:}} option will select selects the center starting person for this the report. The currently home person will be It defaults to the default current active person displayed.
{{man label|Start with the parent(s) of the selected first}} will display draw a descendancy chart from the parents of the center starting person ,if they are in the parents are knowndatabase. As such any siblings The example below is based on the same family as the first example and shows the result of the center person will be displayed toostarting with "Child 2 Davies" and ticking this box.
[[Image:Descendant_tree_example2.png|left|thumb|450px|Fig. {{#var:chapter}}.{{#vardefineecho:figure|{{#expr:{{#var:figure}}+1}}}} Descendant Tree Report, Example 2.]]<br clear=all>Example 1 was obtained by selecting Allan Davies as the starting person and then running the report without this box ticked, with all other options the same except {{man label|Generations}}. The differences between the two examples are:<ul><li>The format of the first generation is changed. Because the parents of the starting person must be adjacent, spouses in the first generation may be shown out of order.</li><li>For the purpose of the {{man label|Level of spouses}} setting, both parents are considered direct descendants, rather than spouses. (Although the mother uses the {{man label|Spousal display format }}on the Display tab.)This means that other spouses (if any) of both of them will be shown to the number of levels specified by {{man label|Level of spouses}}. In example 2, Mike Morris is broken apart from shown even though {{man label|Level of spouses}} is set to 1.</li><li>The title of the report (if selected on the tree Include tab as ) is changed to include both parents of the starting person. Only two people are shown in the 'Family Descendant Report' only differs title. In example 2, Mike Morris is not listed in this one part on this tabthe title even though his descendants are shown.</li>
;Tree tab</ul>
Both of the Descendant Tree and Family Descendant Tree reports share these features on the Tree tab:
The number of {{man label|Generations}} The number of generations to see show on the report (from including the center starting person/family). If {{man label|Start with the parent(s) of the selected first}} is selected, this number is effectively increased by the chart will include onemore generation.(Example 1 was run with {{man label|Generations}}=3, Example 2 with {{man label|Generations}}=2.)
{{man label|Level of spouses}} specifies the how deep to display spouses.
For the example:
* 2 means that spouses of spouses are shown. Same as 1 but Bridget will also show her other marriage. If they had any children, they would be shown too.
* 3 means that everyone in the example above will be displayed.
Any option above 1 is very hard to read on the report without the {{man label|Indent Spouses}} option on the Secondary Display tab. And last but not least is the {{man label|Compress Tree}} option which tries to move everyone up as far as they can go (compress) and still have a readable report. If {{man label|Start with the parent(s) of the selected first}} is ticked, {{man label|Compress Tree}} does not have any affect on the first generation.

{d. $d}</pre>
which displays the name, birth date and death date on consecutive lines in the formats set on the Display tab in Gramps preferences. The {} around on the death information third line states that the text 'd. ' will display ONLY when $d has a value, i.e. there is something in the death informationdate field of the database for this person. See [[Gramps_4.1_Wiki_Manual_-_Reports_-_part_2|Substitution Values]] for more information, including how to include places and attributes, and format select different formats for names and dates and places. The check box {{man label|Bold direct descendants}} causes the names and other information about direct descendants to be in the bold font selected in the style editor. {{man label|Spousal Display format}} specifies what is displayed for each spouse. The default is the same as for descendants. If you do not wish to have a separate box for marriage information, it can be displayed in the spouse box, for example by adding a line with<pre>m. $m </pre>
And Which displays the check box {{man label|Bold direct descendants}} can also make date of the report easier to readmarriage.
You can set the {{man label|Spousal Display formatIndent spouses}}will indent the spouse and marriage boxes from the descendant boxes. If you do In the Family Descendant Chart, it does not wish to have affect the separate marital boxstarting family or the parents of the starting family, the spousal box can be used for marriage information. This option defaults as abovebut it does affect any other spouses of those three couples.
{{man label|Indent spousesInclude marriage box}} will offset spouses display a little from separate box on the tree for each other making it easier to know who has married whomarriage. The display format is set in {{man label|Marriage Display format}}. The default is <pre>m. $m</pre>
{{man label|Include marriage box}} will display a separate box on which displays the date of the tree for marriage information. The display for If this box is set not ticked, marriage information will not be displayed unless you specify it in {{man label|Marriage Display the spousal display format}}as described above.

* ''Do not print a title''
* ''Descendant Chart for [selected person(s)]''

If "Start with Parents of Selected" is ticked on the "Tree Options" tab, both parents of the selected person are shown. Only two poeple will be listed in the title. If "level of spouses" is two or more, descendants of "spouses of spouses" are included on the chart, but are not listed in the title.
And this tab also includes check boxes to {{man label|Include a border}}, {{man label|Include page numbers}}, and {{man label|Include blank pages}}.

{{man button|Report for:}} option will select the center starting family (Father and Mother) for this report. The It defaults to the currently active family . {{man label|Start with the parent(s) of the selected first}} If this box is ticked, the report shows both parents of the starting father and mother (if they are in the database),and all descendants of both sets of parents for the selected number of generations. The total number of generationsin the chart is therefore 1 more than the number selected in the generations box. (The example chart above was madewith generations=2.) The starting father and mother have to be in the cente of the chart. They will therefore not be shown in birth order with their siblings - instead they will be shown as the last and firstchild of their parents respectively. This is shown in the example chart above, where the children in both familieshave been named Child 1,2,3 in their birth order. Furthermore, if the starting father or mother have other spouses they will be shown twice. This also applies to the default family displayedparents of the starting father or mother.
Choosing {{man label|Start with If this box is not ticked, the parent(s) of report is the selected first}} may display two sets of parents (if same as the parents of both descendant tree report, except that the father and mother are known). One set number of parents for the fathergenerations is increased by one, and another set of parents for the mother format of the family (ie grandparents of the children). As suchfirst generation is different, any siblings of the father will be shown on the fathers side and any siblings with you get extra options for the mother will be displayed with her. So the children of the center family will see their grandparents, parents, uncles and aunts and even cousins if there are anychart title.
