    Ubuntu 10.x also installs under 8.04 OK. Looking forward to investigating what’s new.

    Does the Ubuntu deb install under Debian Sid? (It currently has v3.2.3.)

    Awesome job.

    I have had a great deal of fun putting the family history together using gramps.

    My thanks goes out to the community that has put this program together.

    Can you make a bundle for Windows? I installed all those dependencies but still does not work. No average user will ever manage to get the program working.

  • Saleh

    For Windows users who are having trouble with installation, you could simply install the portable version of Gramps from Works like a charm.

    And btw, a very nice program. Wish I was able to make it work before I might have been able to use for our big family tree 🙂

    Does this program import the file created by the Mormon genealogy program? I would rather not re-enter all my data if I can avoid it 🙂

    “Does this program import the file created by the Mormon genealogy program?”

    Yes, Gramps imports Gedcom file format, which is the file created by the Mormon.

    in PAF software, select File->Export…
    export to other GEDCOM 5.5
    the above file can then be imported in GRAMPS

    GRAMPS is a fantastic application! I’ve been involved with genealogy for about 30 years and have used GRAMPS for the last 6 years or so and wouldn’t think of using anything else!

    Thanks for the fixes and updates, GRAMPS developers!

    I use gramps too and like it very much.
