Hi,
Why does Gramps installer for windows seem to get picked up by Various Anti Virus programs? Please see Virus Total results below.
GrampsAIO-4.1.3-1_win64_py27.exe
https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/e9edc674a20609da63df220e8392fb2c79c89b971bd75afdf703448ee9a911fb/analysis/1433260421/
GrampsAIO64-3.4.8-1.exe
https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/ada161d15c5a13eb8e3f142f68caca63521090d475d7df3f599e1efea2ce201a/analysis/1433260125/
With the second file after multiple times submitting it.
The Kaspersky detection on the old file is possibly due to a Malware/Spyware/Toolbar URL in the installer. This file is also picked up by 3 Anti Virus programs, so it is unlikely to be a false positive.

Can you provide more details?
eg, via mailing lists
Does it sound like http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/05/28/sourceforge_accused_of_shackling_gimp_in_kinky_adware/ ?
why

Sorry, I don’t have time at the moment to submit via the mailing list. This is all I have from the Kaspersky Logs.
”
6/2/15 9:27 AM Detected: Hoax.Win32.ArchSMS.cgfhi (analysis according to the database of dangerous URLs) GrampsAIO64-3.4.8-1.exe
”
My suspicion was based on the “Dangerous URLs” note in the log, I have no futher proof/evidence of a Toolbar/Malware URL”
Avast Does not detect anything. Neither Does Windows Defender using signatures dated 5/6/2015.
Only detection I have for Hoax.Win32.ArchSMS.cgfhi are for the GrampsAIO64-3.4.8-1.exe downloads. Infact this is the only detection I have for a virus/malware on this system currently.
If you need further help, please post here when I have a bit of time I might come up on the mailling list.

I just started using gramps 2 days ago. I loved it, was still learning, but added tons of information in. Then I got a fatal error and now I cannot recover my info. Has this happened a lot? I am afraid that even if I get it recovered, this might happen again! I had 7 generations + already in it.

Folks looks like it was a false positive. I have scanned again with Virus Total. New scan for the same file come clean.
Few scanners timed out, but I think its due to the size. Anyway here is the scan result:

Latest version at the time of writing also comes clean:

Thank you all for your responses above and for maintaining such a great program. Now to the task at hand… documenting a family tree spanning 150 or so years and 5 countries.

How can I be sure that I have saved the work that I have done in Gramps. As I cannot appear to find details anywhere on how to do this. So I never know if I have still got the work that I have done or not. I am running GRAPS on a Raspberry PI 3 in Linux as my PC is down.
I am very good at Genealogical research. However I appear to be completely useless at any form of Programming.
Many thanks

I still cannot get this damned Software to run under Windows 10. Does anyone wish to offer some basic help to get this software up and running in exchange for some Genealogical Research in Herefordshire or Gloucestershire. I can get the individuals in as people. However I cannot the Relationships or Families sections to link up the Generations at all. Any help or advise would be most welcome. I am very good at Genealogical research. However I appear to be completely useless and understanding this software.
