LGL CD 1.0 part 1

The past few weeks were a constant tweak-burn-reboot cycle for me… The Linux Genealogy Live CD 1.0 has just been released, and the first downloads started less than 20 minutes after the announcements left my box.

I learned a lot in the process, both about Debian and Ubuntu and about the curse of uploading large files through bad connection to a non-resumable FTP server. I also learned a bit about GIMP while making the CD “art”, a bit about shopping carts and PayPal while working out their services, a bit about CD printing techniques, and even about the torrents.

I am indebted to Don, Trevor, Martin, and Anton who helped with their testing and feedback. It has been fun all along, and now the Linux Install Genealogy CD is almost ready! We should see LGI CD 1.0 released Real Soon Now ™
